Welcome to Primal Journey, the online home of Tarka L’Herpiniere and Katie-Jane Cooper. In 2000 Tarka decided to unify his expeditions, adventures and research under one name, Primal Journey. This is a life ambition to perpetually challenge and expand the achievement and understanding of humanity and of our planet.

“‘Life is a journey not a destination!’ We do our best to live our lives following this simple saying. In addition to the enjoyment and accomplishment we get from all our journeys, we aim to perpetually discover how resilient, resourceful, determined and flexible we can be. The scientific research that we carry out during our journeys is a core part of every expedition. Not only does it help us to better understand the human body and its behaviour under extreme circumstances, but also the world we live in”.

This site can be used to keep track of Tarka and Katie-Jane’s expeditions, adventures, talks and lives generally. The website is kept updated regularly with news, photos, videos which we hope you find interesting and entertaining. Even when Tarka and Katie-Jane are away on an expedition they send updates back via satellite phone.
